These nuts are primarily made from iron, with 18–23% chromium, along with small amounts of molybdenum, manganese, and silicon. This ferritic stainless steel grade is known for its outstanding resistance to oxidation, scaling, and corrosion at high temperatures. On the mechanical side, these nuts have a tensile strength of about 485 MPa and a yield strength close to 275 MPa, featuring good hardness and moderate ductility. They maintain their mechanical stability and oxidation resistance in environments that exceed 1000°C, making them ideal for high-heat and corrosive applications. SS 442 Nuts are manufactured from a ferritic stainless steel alloy consisting mainly of Chromium (18-23%) and Iron with minute quantities of Manganese, Silicon and Carbon.
