The Stainless Steel 304/304L Sheets and Plates are made up of chromium (18–20%) and nickel (8–12%) as the main alloying elements, with carbon content capped at 0.08% for 304 and ≤0.03% for 304L. They also contain minor amounts of manganese (≤2%), silicon (≤1%), phosphorus (≤0.045%), and sulfur (≤0.03%). The lower carbon content in 304L helps reduce carbide precipitation during welding, enhancing its corrosion resistance. In terms of mechanical properties, these materials boast a tensile strength of around 485 MPa, a yield strength of 170 MPa, and an elongation of 40%. They also offer excellent formability, ductility, and toughness, maintaining their stability even in cryogenic conditions.
