The ER309/309L filler wires and rods are austenitic stainless consumables, typically made up of around 23–25% chromium, 12–14% nickel, up to 2.5% manganese, 0.30–0.65% silicon, and 0.75% molybdenum. The “L” variant features a low carbon content of 0.03% to minimize the risk of intergranular carbide formation. When it comes to mechanical properties, these wires generally boast a tensile strength of 590–620 MPa, yield strength of 350–440 MPa, and an elongation of 35–40%, ensuring excellent durability and resistance in demanding conditions.
