The ER410NiMo solid wire/rod falls under the American Welding Society (AWS) specification A5.9 (also known as ASME SFA 5.9) for stainless steel bare filler metals, suitable for both MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding. It’s specifically designed for welding cast and wrought martensitic stainless steels that contain about 11–13% chromium, along with elevated levels of nickel (4–5%) and molybdenum (0.4–0.7%). This composition ensures excellent wear, cavitation, and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for applications in steam/hydropower, turbines, pumps, or valves.
In terms of mechanical performance, weld deposits typically exhibit a yield strength of around 92 kpsi (approximately 635 MPa) and a tensile strength of about 118 kpsi (around 815 MPa), with an elongation of roughly 20%.

Excellent toughness and resistance to corrosion, ideal for welding components exposed to high temperatures and severe conditions, ensuring durability and strong welds.
AWS Class ER410NiMo TIG Filler Welding Wire and Rod is widely utilized in high-strength and wear-resistant weld applications in industries. It is widely used in power plants to weld turbine blades, rotors, and other high-stress parts. In the oil and gas industry, it is utilized to weld pump shafts, valves, and downhole equipment. The marine industry uses it in shipbuilding and offshore platforms that have to withstand aggressive environments. Moreover, it is crucial in aerospace, defense, and chemical processing industries where corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, and impact toughness are needed.
The ER410NiMo filler is particularly well-suited for applications that demand high strength along with resistance to corrosion, erosion, and cavitation in martensitic stainless steels, such as castings like CA6NM and similar 12% Cr alloys. Thanks to its alloy content, it provides enhanced toughness, wear and cavitation resistance, and stability in challenging environments. This makes it a great choice for hydro-power turbine components, pump casings, valve parts, marine or offshore services, and other heavy-duty industrial applications. It’s versatile enough for both MIG and TIG processes and is ideal for weld deposits that will face cyclic stresses.
