ER385 filler wires consist of chromium (19–21%), nickel (24–26%), molybdenum (4–5%), and minimal carbon (<0.03%) with equally adjusted levels of manganese and silicon. The weld metal contains tensile strength of about 600 MPa, yield strength of 400 MPa, and elongation of about 35%. The composition provides superior resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing environments. ER385 has superior mechanical stability and toughness even after prolonged exposure to high temperature and corrosive media and is therefore ideal for severe industrial conditions.
